(the infamous goobers rendition is on the music page . . .)
Merv Spiegel and the Penguins was a post-punk rock band that played at Stanford University in the mid-eighties. We played constantly at many, many campus events including shows at Frost Amphitheater, memorial auditorium, and "The Quad" as well as almost every frat house and many large dorm events. We recorded two albums and also did a short tour of Los Angeles, playing classic venues such as FM Station and Madam Wong's.
Our version of the commercial jingle "Goobers and Raisinets" is a much loved curiosity but there are many other sides to this band. Much of our music and downloads (including our epic rendition of "Goobers . . .") can be accessed on the "music" page.
